The territory of Delta del Po represents a delicate equilibrium
between land and water, maintained by man with works of cultivation
and consolidation. An environment of great interest arose out of
this action, from points of view regarding both flora and fauna,
and by this stage its ecological, cultural and historical value
is widely recognised. Furthermore, the territory of Delta del Po
is also the purpose of a tourism that nowadays does not reguest
only seaside enjoyment but that also wants even more experiences
of nature. It's in order to satisfy this need, but also to educate
the tourist to respect the environment, in order to make known the
advantages offered by this and to preserve a context of great scientific
interest, that the Veneto Region through the Forestry Service has
realised the costal Botanical Garden in Porto Caleri, close to Rosolina
Mare. A tour along the Delta del Po is also the best for birdwatchers
and photograpers, with wide valleys and lagoons, coloured sunsets,
thousands of moorhens, herons, limicola falcinellus. You can discover
the extensive and intensive breeding of doryfish, bassfish, mullets.
A stretch on the left bank of the Po di Maistra, an old branch of
the Po, is considered as the most spectacular one for its wide variety
of birds and incredible wealth of trees. Each area in the Delta
presents particular features of environmental, morphological, vegetative
and zoological aspects which clearly distinguish themselves; particular
aspects where surviving remains of nature, almost disappeared, mingle
with new animal and vegetable elements developing new systems.
